Kernow Model Rail Centre (KMRC) has commissioned an exclusive ‘OO’ gauge Class 86/4 AC electric from Heljan, finished as 86402 in BR blue (Cat No. 8649).
Entering traffic as E8170 in June 1965, the AL6 Bo-Bo electric was renumbered 86002 in 1973 under BR’s new TOPS numbering sequence. In the mid-1980s, it received flexicoil suspension to allow 100mph running and was renumbered 86402.
Revealed at KMRC's annual Camborne shop open day event on September 22, the exclusive model of 86402 will utilise Heljan’s revised tooling for the 'OO' gauge 86/4 and features LED lighting, 21-pin Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder socket, wire handrails and finely detailed underframe.
Priced at £229.99, release is expected during the second quarter of 2024.
