New layouts revealed for Model World LIVE 2024

New layouts have been revealed for Model World LIVE on April 27/28 2024 at the NEC in Birmingham including Hillingdon Railway Modellers' stunning 'O' gauge layout Grindley Brook as well as a new list of scale modelling stands from Airfix Model World model makers.

The latest additions to the Model World LIVE 2024 layout line up are Hillingdon Railway Modellers’ stunning ‘O’ gauge layout Grindley Brook (HM148), steam era ‘O’ gauge motive power depot 82G (HM74) and Northbridge in ‘OO’ from the Warley Model Railway Club, Fairport Wharf in ‘OO’ gauge from Fareham Model Railway Club and Fence Houses in ‘OO’ gauge by Ian Forsyth (HM164). Also joining the roster are Paul Stapleton’s stunning ‘HO’ scale model of Beijiao with a Chinese Railway theme, Providence Colliery by Theo Thomas modelling a Dean Forest colliery scene and Neil Mason’s new ‘O’ gauge nuclear flask terminal – Patrick Lane Flask Terminal.

Junior modeller layouts have also joined the line with the High Wycombe and District MRS' Junior Section 'OO' gauge layout Mothecombe and 'N' gauge modeller Oscar Robson's Fordon Hill Railway adding to the show to showcase young modellers in the hobby.

In addition the Gauge O Guild will be exhibiting Stodmarsh, with a Second World War theme, alongside a demonstration and sales stand and Michael Sharpe is bringing his new model of the Ruston Hornsby Works in Lincoln to Model World LIVE together with two 71/4in gauge Ruston and Hornsby locomotives to display adding further to the show.

The centrepiece layout will be Pete Waterman’s Making Tracks: The Final Frontier with more than 250ft of scenery on the 208ft x 14ft layout – see the Making Tracks pages for more information on this huge expansion of the Making Tracks layout.

The show trade stand line-up now features more than 10 manufacturers across railway and scale modelling with the latest additions being Hornby and Airfix. These join Accurascale, Bachmann, Beacon Models, Cavalex Models, C=Rail, Ellis Clark Trains, Heljan, Oxford Diecast, Realtrack Models and Revolution Trains.

The guest list for scale modelling displays continues to expand while visitors will also now be able to enjoy a radio controlled vehicle display from Tamiya Trucking including working excavators, lorries and more while scale modellers can now meet the modellers behind Airfix Model World features and see the completed models first hand with displays from Garry Tobiss, Mike Williams, Kev Baxter, Gary Radford, Chris Jones, Duncan Cooke and Richard Spreakley at Model World LIVE.

For military modellers there will be two full size vehicles on display supplied by Midland Military Vehicles – an FV107 Scimitar CVR(T) with full bar armour and a BATUS FV434 ARV with more exciting features to be announced in March and April for the event.

Advance tickets are on sale now for Model World LIVE offering early entry to the show each day and a saving over on-the-door prices. Discounted advance ticket prices are £16 for adults (£14 for subscribers) and £9 for children (Saturday) while a VIP ticket is available for £50 offering two-day entry to the show, £25 of Key Publishing publications and more. On-the-day prices are £19 for adults and £10 for children. On Sunday, up to two children will be admitted free with each paying adult.

NEC parking prices are £18.95 on the day, but parking can be paid for in advance of the show offering a £5 discount for exhibition visitors. Advance parking purchases are open now through the NEC website.
