Colour for NER 20ton coal hoppers

Final decorated samples of Accurascale’s all-new ‘OO’ gauge North Eastern Railway (NER) 20ton coal hopper wagons have arrived for scrutiny.

Built by the NER in 1902 to haul coal traffic, a huge number of these wagons were built across numerous sub types. In-spite of their age some of these wagons saw use post nationalisation and a number still survive today on heritage railways and museums.

Final decorated samples have arrived.

Accurascale has developed a tooling suite that allows for modelling of diagram P6, P7, P8 and Q3. Additionally the tooling will also feature different axle boxes, three body designs, die-cast chassis, turned metal wheels, side or end handbrakes, brass bearings, sprung buffers and more.

Colour schemes planned include NER grey (P6,P7,P9), LNER grey (P7, DMG11, DMG12), BR grey (DMG12). Industrial and private owner wagons are also available including British Steel Corporation pale green, National Coal Board black, red and black with white cross (P7).

Some wagon triple packs featuring a mixture of liveries are also available with a grouping transition pack including one Q3 hopper in NER blue and two in LNER grey and a pack containing one BR blue and two BR grey DMG 12 wagons is also available.

Full production has now commenced with an expected delivery date of late 2024, with each triple wagon pack priced at £84.95.
