Dapol announced plans for a newly-tooled Great Western Railway (GWR) ‘63XX’ 2-6-0 at the recent International ‘N’ Gauge Show.

Six models are planned initially with three GWR variants, a BR black with early crests version and examples in BR green with early or late crests.

Dapol’s new ‘N’ gauge models are based on the later Churchward build, from numbers 5390-7321. The prototypes were built at Swindon Works between 1920-1923 with the final eight (6362-6369) in 1925 under Collett.

The model features a die-cast split-frame chassis for live bearing pick-up as well as a die-cast footplate with detailed cab interior, blackened nickel-plated driving wheels with brass bearings, all-wheel pick-up and a coreless motor driving the rear wheels.
