SPECIAL HOBBY P-40N RETURNS IN COMMONWEALTH GUISE

An all-new set of 1/72 P-40 parts was long overdue for modellers when Special Hobby issued the first of its series in 2017, a USAAF P-40N, and more sub-types followed. Now, the 1/72 P-40N has been reissued as a Kittyhawk Mk.IV, with markings for two different Royal Australian Air Force machines, as item SH 72484 ‘Over the Mediterranean and the Pacific’. If you are unfamiliar with Special Hobby’s P-40s they, as with its same-scale Mirage F1 from 2016, helped to usher in a new era of mould design and part quality for the firm. Its usual policy, echoing many others, is to produce generic runners that can be supplemented with bespoke components, helping modellers replicate different variants. And the detail is enviable.
