Development work continues on Darstaed/Ellis Clark Trains’ Thompson main line carriages for ‘O’ gauge.
The partnership reports that delays have inevitably crept in due to the COVID-19 pandemic, although the opportunity has been taken to add further detail to the coaches in the meantime, including improved interiors, etched brass bogie steps and enhanced chassis detailing.
The impressive specification also includes finely detailed brass sides, interior lighting, compensated die-cast bogies, magnetic coupling corridor connections, sprung metal buffers, brass luggage racks, Kadee couplings, removable slot-in coach roofboards and more. In total, 68 individual ‘O’ gauge carriages will be released including Corridor Third (TK), Brake Corridor Third (BTK), Brake Corridor Composite (BCK), Corridor First (FK), Restaurant First with Kitchen (RF), Restaurant First Open (RFO/FO), Restaurant Third Open/Third Open (RFO/TO) and Full Brake (BG), covering simulated teak livery, BR crimson and cream and BR lined maroon, plus BR crimson and BR blue for the BGs.
In addition, an ‘Elizabethan’ set in BR crimson and cream will also be available comprising BG, BCK, TKs, RTO and RF, plus a Buffet Lounge Car (RB), Corridor Third with Ladies Retiring Room (TK(L)), and Corridor First with Ladies Retiring Room (FK(L)).
Prices are now set at £229 each, with delivery of the ‘Elizabethan’ carriages expected towards the end of 2020 and the remainder during 2021.
