Kernow Model Rail Centre (KMRC) has commissioned two new exclusive ‘OO’ gauge Class 33/1 locomotives from Heljan, finished as 33104 (Cat No. 3372) and 33106 in BR blue (3373).
Representing a pair of the push-pull fitted Class 33/1s which appeared on the 'Thames Tamar Express' railtour on April 16 1977, the locomotives worked the train between London Waterloo and Carne Point in Cornwall, formed of two BR Southern Region Class 491 4-TC units with a BR Mk 1 Restaurant Miniature Buffet coupled in between.
Both models represent the prototypes as they appeared at the time in BR blue without high-intensity headlights and feature separately fitted metal handrails, together with distinctive cab front push-pull pipework and will also incorporate upgrades including switchable LED lighting and a new 21-pin Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder socket.
For those wishing to create a representation of the railtour, KMRC’s exclusive ‘OO’ gauge Class 491 4-TC units are still available.
The Class 33/1s are priced at £209.95 each (DCC ready) and are available to order now.
