REWORKED SEAFIRE 46 FROM SPECIAL HOBBY

The Czech company has added new parts and decals to its 1/72 Seafire Mk.46, so you can now also represent the recce version, as CHRIS CLIFFORD discovers.

REWORKED SEAFIRE 46 FROM SPECIAL HOBBY

Special Hobby’s 1/72 Seafire Mk.46 grew from an existing range of late-marque Spitfires in 2012, which included the Mk.21 and 24… but also a Seafire FR.47. Common parts plus more variant-specific items fill these boxings, allowing different sub-types to be replicated. Now, Special Hobby has add other items to its baseline Mk.46 so, besides the pure fighter being represented, you can also employ extra FR.47 fuselage halves to portray an FR.46 fighter-recce airframe via kit SH72482. The ‘new’ fuselage halves have an opening for the camera windows, plus the appropriate glazing and a slightly different panel line layout.
