ASK’S KITTYHAWK MK.III MARKINGS

Love it or loathe it, the P-40 certainly played its part in World War Two and is a splendid canvas for modelling when it comes to colour schemes. ASK Distribution has produced various sheets for the P-40 family in different scales. Its latest, D48002, provides enough national markings, serials and other markings for four Royal Australian Air Force Kittyhawk Mk.III airframes. Three are in bare metal with the fourth wearing olive green over grey camouflage. The choices are:

•    A29-451/L OLD CROW, 84 Squadron, Piva North airfield, Bougainville, late 1943
•    A29-480 SINBAD III, 5 Squadron, Piva North airfield, Bougainville, September 1945
•    A29-495, 5 Squadron, Piva North airfield, Bougainville, September 1945
•    A29-4112, 5 Squadron, Piva North airfield, Bougainville, September 1945

These schemes are excellent if you want a different look for your Kittyhawk, if a US P-40 livery doesn’t quite do it for you. The sheet costs €12.30 direct from ASK Distribution, but it’s also available in the UK via Hannants.
