Barnetby to Wrawby

Barnetby in North Lincolnshire was known for its spectacular array of semaphore signals. STEPHEN RICHARDS explains how this ‘N’ gauge replica was built as a permanent exhibit at Immingham Museum.

IMMINGHAM MUSEUM tells the story of Immingham. Upstairs we concentrate on the importance of railways to the development of Immingham Docks using the many transport related artifacts from the area and two large model railway layouts. Our ‘OO’ gauge model of Immingham Depot featured in HM155 and now it is the turn of our ‘N’ gauge model of the line between Barnetby and Wrawby Junction.

The original concept of this part of the museum was born from an idea in 2008 by John Trevitt, a railway enthusiast and modeller, and later a curator and trustee of Immingham Museum. In addition to the layouts and artifacts, the museum also has a library with a large collection of documents, which include photographs, articles, maps, working timetables and DVDs on display and all available for study. 

We are also the proud hosts of the Great Central Railway Society national archive, which can be viewed by appointment.
