If you want to model an aircraft with character, the Pilatus PC-6 is a worthy candidate. This utility aircraft renowned for its short take-off and landing prowess has been flown by civilian and military operators alike, finding cinematic fame in the 1990 film Air America, starring Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr.
Ukrainian firm Big Planes Kits (BPK) released the first of three new-tool kits in 2017, the trio replicating both PC-6 and licence-built Fairchild-Hiller AU-23 airframes. Now, Dora Wings has reissued this mixed-media offering but adds new decals. These are for four different machines, one actually representing the aircraft as seen in Air America. The eponymous movie follows the travails of two disaffected pilots flying for what was the CIA’s private airline, during the Vietnam War.
