NEW P-38 LIGHTNING DECALS BY EAGLECALS

If you’re a fan of Lockheed’s P-38 Lightning, you may want to consider the colour schemes offered by EagleCals’ latest decal sheet. Branded P-38s in Europe (EC#188), it’s provided in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 scales, retailing at $15, $21 and $25 respectively. Three of the airframes are in bare metal, while the other wears Olice Drab over Neutral Gray. All have artwork of some form, and if your interest lies in famous pilots/aces, you’ll probably pleased to see representation of a P-38 flown by legendary fighter leader Robin Olds. The liveries are:

•    P-38J-15-LO, 43-28707 SCAT II, Lt Robin Olds, 479th Fighter Group
•    P-38L, ‘S’ Taffy, Lt Walter Zurney, 82nd Fighter Group
•    P-38J-10-LO, 42-67505/KI-R Jeanne, Lt Roy Scrutchfield, 55th Fighter Group
•    P-38J-15-LO, 43-28714/L LUCKY LADY, Lt Arnold G Helding, 479th Fighter Group

NEW P-38 LIGHTNING DECALS BY EAGLECALS

This is pleasing selection of schemes for the ‘fork-tailed devil’, as the P-38 was nicknamed, and the inclusion of shark mouths on the nacelles of the Olive Drab machine is a welcome representation. Extra interest is also provided by invasion stripes on two bare-metal examples. Splendid colour artwork by James Bentley gives a good appreciation of the colours involved, too. The decals themselves are beautifully printed, featuring thin, gloss carrier film. Choose your favourite scale and order direct from Eagle Editions; they’re also available in the UK via Hannants.
