HELLO AND WELCOME to a very special issue of Hornby Magazine where we celebrate 100 years of the world’s most famous steam locomotive, Flying Scotsman.
Completed at Doncaster Works in February 1923, it is remarkable to think that a century later this phenomenal machine is still in tip-top main line condition, hauling capacity railtours the length and breadth of the rail network.
As lead sponsor for the Flying Scotsman 100 centenary events, Hornby has some exciting plans with an all-new collection of Hornby-Dublo models charting the famous Gresley ‘Pacific’ at significant milestones throughout its 100-year career to date, plus there’s a new ‘TT:120’ scale model due for release this year. Hornby's main range ‘OO’ gauge model of 60103 Flying Scotsman is set to appear with the new Bluetooth Triplex Sound system on board, together with a newly-designed smoke generator that is set to work in sync with the wheels and digital sound.
