Using a combination of kits, components and scratchbuilding, Mike Wild developed a canopy and building frontage to fill a void on Hornby Magazine's 'OO' gauge terminus layout Grosvenor Square.
WHEN WE ‘finished’ Grosvenor Square for the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition in November 2016, it wasn’t really finished and one of the primary jobs on the list was to create an additional canopy for Platform 1 right at the front of the layout.
The basic plan had existed from the start. It was going to be a traditional pitched roof canopy on platform one with a low relief building frontage to the rear suggesting something like a parcels office. It would sit right at the very front edge of the layout and, hopefully, create some nice viewing angles too. The canopy kits were bought even before the Warley show, but time was against us then so they were packed into the spares box for another day. The chosen kits are Wills Station Canopies (Cat No. SS54) of which we had two to assemble to create a long enough length to suit the large station scene.
