Having pleased legions of modellers with its 1/48 Bronco kits, the Ukrainian firm has now produced a newly tooled 1/72 example of the OV-10A, as CHRIS CLIFFORD reveals.

ICM BRONCO NOW IN 1/72 SCALE!

Fans of 1/48 scale have had something of a bonanza from ICM in recent years. Modellers who favour Vietnam War and modern subjects have had particular reason to rejoice, what with the company’s OV-10A/D boxings, which are packed with fine detail. Now, though, modellers staunchly devoted to 1/72 can ditch the envy… as ICM has produced a kit of the A-model in this scale, and it’s just as well appointed.

Kit 72185 is not simply a scaled-down version; it has all the same luscious detail, but via re-arranged runners, with selected parts being moulded integrally with others instead of separately, as on the 1/48 equivalent. All the delicate panel line engraving is present. However, raised rivets employed on the 1/48 example are rendered in recessed form on the smaller version. All the same armament is provided too, although with fewer components necessary, this comprising LAU-33, LAU-10A, LAU-68 and LAU-69A rocket pods, Mk.81/82 low-drag and Snakeye bombs (also with fuze-extenders), plus Mk.77 napalm tanks.
