ITALIAN ARROW

ITALIAN ARROW

It may come as a surprise, but Mark I’s newly tooled 1/144 Fiat G.50 is the first kit of the type in this scale.

Mark I Models 1/144 Fiat G.50

There are three releases in all, covering the initial G.50 and subsequent G.50bis Freccia (arrow) airframes, with this boxing covering machines deployed to Africa (MKM144129). As usual, there are enough parts for two models, with each presented on a single styrene runner –a separate windshield is also included. There’s a neat four-piece cockpit, which benefits from integrally moulded sidewall detail, while the type’s 14-cylinder radial engine is excellent for this scale. It builds into a tiny model, so might not be suitable for beginners, but those with a few 1/144 builds under their belt should find it straightforward.

Two of the four schemes (including a captured machine in South African Air Force markings) feature the classic Italian smoke/multi-toned mottle camouflage, although how they will be replicated in 1/144 will be a challenge! More on this and other Mark I releases is at: www.4pluspublications.com.
