ACCURASCALE HAS revealed that it is producing a collection of newly-tooled ‘OO’ gauge North Eastern Railway (NER) 20ton eight-plank hopper wagons, as part of its Powering Britain range.

Developed by the NER around the turn of the 20th century, these distinctive wagons were developed in quick succession for transporting coal in the North East. They were a compromise by the railway’s board, conscious that colliery owners would be resistant to investing in new facilities at the time, so the new wagons were intended to make use of existing arrangements.
