Accurascale Class 50 EPs break cover

Accurascale has revealed progress on its forthcoming all-new ‘OO’ gauge Class 50 Co-Co-diesel project.

First Engineering Prototype (EP) samples have been thoroughly assessed and tested by the company's development team, ahead of production commencing later this year. Several areas for improvement have already been identified with minor adjustments required to the body fitment, bodyside grilles, roof detailing and chemical blackening of the bogie pick-up strips. Decorated samples are currently being prepared.

Eight different Class 50 models are planned initially finished as D423 in BR blue (Cat No. ACC2237/DCC), 50006 Neptune in BR blue (ACC2238/DCC), 50007 Sir Edward Elgar in GW150 green (ACC2239/DCC - Accurascale Exclusive), 50008 Thunderer in Hanson and Hall/Rail Adventure grey (ACC2240/DCC), 50014 Warspite in BR large logo blue with black roof (ACC2241/DCC), 50017 Royal Oak in original Network SouthEast livery (ACC2242/DCC), 50021 Rodney in BR large logo blue with grey roof (ACC2243/DCC) and 50149 Defiance in BR Railfreight General grey (ACC2244/DCC - Accurascale Exclusive). Each will be offered in Digital Command Control ready and DCC sound-fitted forms.

The specification includes a die-cast metal chassis, five-pole motor, twin flywheels, all-wheel drive, 21-pin DCC decoder socket, motorised radiator fan with different speed settings, onboard power pack and extensive lighting options.

Prices are set at £189.98 DCC ready and £299.99 DCC sound-fitted. Release is currently slated for late 2023.
