Popular since its initial release, Airfix’s splendid 1/72 new-tool Spitfire Mk.Vc has been reissued with two fresh colour schemes.
First issued in 2020 with Mediterranean markings, Airfix’s delightful 1/72 Spitfire Mk.Vc returns with a new decal sheet, offering the choice of two different-looking airframes. This Series 2 item (A02108A), allows you to build either an RAF clipped-wing presentation machine wearing standard day-fighter camouflage, or a Royal Australian Air Force example in bare metal, with a red spinner and black anti-glare panel. The latter is also fitted with a Vokes tropical filter under the nose. The options in detail are:
• EE602/DV-V Central Railways Uruguayan Staff, 129 (Mysore) Squadron, RAF Ibsley, Hampshire, UK, May 31, 1943
• A58-150, Flt Sgt R J Dunn, 85 Squadron RAAF, Western Australia, August 1945
Airfix’s Mk.Vc is a lovely little kit, offering the chance to build airframes with or without the Vokes filter. It has fine panel lines, good replication of what we know as the ‘universal’ C Wing format, plus great cockpit detail for the scale. All this come for the wallet-friendly price of just £11.99. It’s available direct from Airfix and official stockists.
