UK online retailer Tyrell Models is now importing selected paints from the Ukrainian manufacturer, founded in Zaporizhzhia, in 2013.
Modellers are creatures of habit and often stick to one or two brands of paint, with acrylics dominating in recent years. However, it’s always good to try products new to you, and the perfect opportunity to do so lies with Ukrainian brand Arcus Hobby Color, now being imported by Tyrell Models.

Arcus produces enamel and acrylic paints, although Tyrell Models is trying to focus more on the latter formula. Themed sets are available, one example being the acrylic package PSU The Ghost of Kyiv (#A7010). This offers six shades with which to replicate the low-visibility grey digital pattern on current Ukrainian Air Force combat aircraft, such as the MiG-29, L-39 Albatros, Su-24 and Su-25. It contains 10ml bottles of the following shades:
• A255s RAL 7043 Verkehsgrau B
• A254s RAL 7037 Staubgrau
• A253s RAL 7040 Fenstergrau
• A252s RAL 7038 Achatgrau
• A251s RAL 7001 Silbergrau
• A250s RAL 7005 Mausgrau
Other six-bottle sets include RAF WW2 Night Bombers, Luftwaffe Defence of the Reich, RAF WW2 Day Fighters and PSU Ukrainian Pixel Flankers, but more will be added to Tyrell Models’ stocks in time. The acrylics can be thinned with water and each set costs £9.99, available direct from Tyrell Models.
