ARTISAN DETAIL AIRBRUSHING

Modellers seeking an airbrush that can produce super-fine lines have an excellent option in Iwata’s new Custom Micron ‘Takumi’ with side-feed paint cup.

ARTISAN DETAIL AIRBRUSHING

The ‘Takumi’ range from Iwata is named for the Japanese phrase denoting artisan skill, when hand and mind become one. Having reviewed the Takumi Eclipse at Key Model World (see here), we’ve now received word of the Custom Micron airbrush’s re-design.

This dual-action airbrush has a compact body, and side-feed paint cup with siphon cut lid, improving paint flow; the paint cup can be mounted on the left or right for full versatility. And while the Custom Micron can spray to line thicknesses of up to 3/4in (20mm), it is capable of spraying extremely fine lines down to 0.18mm. Considering that seemingly tricky mottle pattern on your next Luftwaffe build? It’ll be a doddle with the Custom Micron ‘Takumi’.

Such quality and capability don’t come cheap though – this ‘brush, IW-CM-350T – costs £489… but if you are a seasoned modeller looking to seriously up your game in the spraying department, this could well be the tool for you. Take good care of it and it should last a lifetime.
