In the second part of our series following construction of our brand-new ‘TT:120' scale layout, MIKE WILD explains how the laser-cut viaduct kit was built and installed.
Viaducts make for a stunning scene on a model railway. With the land falling away beneath the railway and an imposing structure above it, it can make for an amazing model and that is exactly what we wanted to do on our ‘TT:120’ scale layout.

By working in the smaller 2.54mm:1ft scale of ‘TT:120’, we were able to introduce a much longer viaduct in a small space. The full length of our structure is 850mm which includes five arches and it still fits within a single 4ft x 2ft (1,220mm x 610mm) standard baseboard size required for this portable layout.
The idea for the viaduct scene was one of the first essential components in our design for the layout. We knew we wanted something different to what had been seen before, so after a discussion with the designer at PJM Models we selected Outwood Viaduct in Radcliffe as the basis for our brand-new kit.
