Military modellers have an imposing option in Das Werk’s all-new 1/35 8.8cm Flak on 9t Vomag truck, as CHRIS CLIFFORD discovers.
There are some models whereby – on feeling the weight of the box – you know you’re in for a real project involving heaps of detail. That’s certainly the case with the new 1/35 8.8cm Flak on 9t Vomag truck from Das Werk. This hefty product (DW35024) has been created through a collaboration with kit manufacturer Takom. It’s the first time the ‘88’ has been matched with this vehicle in styrene, in this scale… and the results are superb. While much of the contents’ weight involves 17 styrene runners and a large photo-etched (PE) brass fret, there’s also a hefty, bilingual 40-page history book with period photos, plus narrative/imagery on building the kit by noted German modeller Frank Schulz. Also present, of course, are the actual instructions, which run to 40 pages plus the colour scheme sheets.
