EDUARD BRISTOL FIGHTER RETURNS

Czech firm Eduard has re-released its 1/48 Bristol F.2B Fighter as a Weekend Edition kit, with new markings.

EDUARD BRISTOL FIGHTER RETURNS

Eduard’s popular and pleasing 1/48 Bristol Fighter has been re-issued under the firm’s ‘Weekend’ label, sporting new decals for four different airframes. First issued in 2005, this well-detailed product is now available as item 8452, also providing a printed acetate windscreen. Seatbelts are supplied in decal form.

Great for its age

Ensuring extra detail, instrument panel dial facings also appear as individual decals, while the kit also offers alternative engine cowling shutters, elevators and exhausts. There’s a choice of single or twin machine gun armament, along with underwing/underbelly bomb racks and bombs. Eduard also provides a full rigging guide on the instructions… all you have to do is select your favoured medium for this task and follow the steps.

The colour schemes are subtle variations of the standard green upper surfaces, clear-doped linen undersides and grey engine cowlings:

While the tooling is almost 20 years old, the parts display a respectable amount of detail; separate flying control surfaces, basic engine rendering, buttoned crew seats and rib tapes are just some of the benefits. There’s plenty for any World War One fan to get their teeth into here, and the price is good at just £13.79 direct from Eduard. In the UK it’s available via Hannants for £17.20.
