EX-WINGNUT 1/32 LANCASTER RESURFACES
China’s Border Model is soon to release the impressive 1/32 Avro Lancaster kit originally created by Wingnut Wings.
New Zealand World War One aircraft kit specialist Wingnut Wings caused a huge stir when it exhibited a test-shot model of its 1/32 Lancaster B.I/III at the UK’s Scale ModelWorld show in 2019. Since then the firm ‘went dark’, with many of the staff leaving and recently creating their own brand, Kōtare (see our news story here).
Many modellers, unsurprisingly, wondered about the fate of this potentially stillborn large-scale Lancaster project (among others), but it has resurfaced with Chinese firm Border Model, whose kits are imported into the UK by Albion Hobbies.
Few hard details are available, and even Albion is unsure of the release date, but in the meantime here is a selection of imagery showing a hint of the jaw-dropping detail on offer. We’ll bring you updates as and when we can.
