Flying Scotsman gains sound in ‘TT:120’

The famous Gresley ‘A3’ 4-6-2 is now available in ‘TT:120’ scale with Hornby’s new Triplex Sound installed from the factory. MIKE WILD inspects this new arrival.

The Gresley ‘A3’ was always going to be a must-have addition to the Hornby ‘TT:120’ product range because of the world’s most famous steam locomotive 60103 Flying Scotsman. New to the ‘TT:120’ range is this version of the locomotive in single-chimney form carrying its LNER number 4472 which is now factory fitted with Hornby’s new Bluetooth TXS sound chip.

This is also our first opportunity to look over a ‘TT:120’ model of the Gresley ‘A3’. The first versions arrived in trainsets at the end of 2022, but now the single locomotives are available, there is the choice of 4472 Flying Scotsman in LNER lined apple green (TT3004M/TT3004TXSM), 60078 Night Hawk in BR lined green with early crests (TT3005M/TT3005TXSM) and 60084 Trigo in BR lined green with late crests (TT3006M/TT3006TXSM). All three are out now with the choice of DCC ready (£167.99) and DCC sound fitted (£222.99) locomotives.
