The 'OO' gauge Live Steam Club commemorated the 20th anniversary of Hornby’s 'OO' gauge live steam range at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition in late November.

The range was introduced in 2003, offering working ready-to-run live steam locomotives in ‘OO’ gauge for the first time. The initial locomotive released was ‘A4’ 4-6-2 4468 Mallard. Four other ‘A4s’ followed and in 2005 they were joined by ‘A3’ 4472 Flying Scotsman. Only one other ‘A3’ was released along with a limited edition version of 4472 Flying Scotsman in 1966 condition with two tenders. With around 14,000 live steam models produced, expansion of the range stopped in late 2007.

From then the Live Steam Club stepped in and has been supporting the community, providing help, assistance and a shop where live steam locomotives can be sold.

Commemorative plaques to celebrate the 20th anniversary were presented to inventor Richard Hallam and Hornby’s Head of Brand Martin Weaver by Hornby Chairman Lyndon Davies at the Warley show.
