The votes have been counted and we can now reveal the winners of the annual Hornby Magazine Model Railway Awards. With the highest level of voting so far, MIKE WILD presents the awards for 2020, as selected by Hornby Magazine readers.
Winner -best ‘OO’ gauge locomotive 2020: Hornby’s Stephenson’s Rocket.
BEST ‘OO’ GAUGE LOCOMOTIVE (ABOVE)
Hornby has had an impressive year in 2020 while celebrating its 10th anniversary, with the undoubted highlight for many being its allnew model of Stephenson’s Rocket (HM154). This tiny 0-2-2 and its trio of carriages has won the Best ‘OO’ gauge Locomotive Award for 2020 – as well as being crowned Hornby’s best model of all time in our readers vote (HM162).
Rocket was announced in January 2020 and the first batch arrived in the shops the same month as a special edition to celebrate Hornby’s 10th anniversary in Tri-ang Railways branded packaging. A second standard edition in Railway Museum packaging arrived in the middle of the year with a different set of carriages for general release too, while soon modellers will be able to purchase a model of the Liverpool & Manchester Railway open carriage to go with the book sets.
