THE HORNBY CARRIAGE portfolio has increased for the second month in a row with the arrivaof its first batch of all-new BR Mk 2F coaches. These arrived a month after its Bulleid 59ft steam era stock (HM146).
The Mk 2F was introduced in 1973 and alwere built over a two-year period at Derby Works. The range consisted of 164 First Opens (FO), 277 Tourist Second Opens (TSO) and 30 Brake Second Opens (BSO). In 1979 14 of the BSOs were converted into Driving Brake Second Open (DBSO) vehicles for push-puloperation on Glasgow- Edinburgh services with Class 47/7s.
The Hornby Mk 2F is a brand-new tooling developed for the 2019 range. It is a worthy follow-up to the Mk 2E stock previously introduced by the manufacturer and models the most numerous and finaversion of the Mk 2 carriage design. Distinguishing features of the Mk 2F include plastic interior panelling, new seating and revisions to the underframe equipment compared with their Mk 2E predecessors.
