Hornby has unveiled surprise plans to produce a special souvenir edition of its ‘OO’ gauge InterCity 125 High Speed Train (HST), in celebration of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
Finished in a fictional LNER colour scheme echoing the pre-Grouping LNER’s ‘Silver Jubilee’ train, the special edition release will feature Class 43 power cars 43022 and 43052 in LNER silver grey (Cat No. R30215), together with eight accompanying BR Mk 3 sliding door carriages in lined LNER silver with blue trim. The full formation will comprise six Trailer First (accessible) coaches – ER0002/ER0012/ER0062/ER0072/ER0082 and ER0092 (R40335-E) – and two Trailer Composite Catering cars – ER0052/ER0022 (R40356/A).
Both power cars will utilise Hornby's all-new tooling suite and feature directional lighting, 21-pin Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder sockets and provision for digital sound.
This special celebratory HST set will be available as a twin power car pack (motorised/dummy), priced at £362.99, while the Mk 3s will be offered individually at £44.99 each. The Mk 3s are expected later this summer, while delivery of the power pack pack is scheduled during the Autumn.
