NEW from Irish Railway Models (IRM) are these standard 42ft bogie flat wagons in Guinness Keg Liner, Spoil Carrier and Weedspray train guises for ‘OO’.
Built at Coras Iompair Eireann’s (CIE) Inchicore Works in the early 1970s, the prototypes have been synonymous with containerised freight services for decades as well as transportation of the distinctive Guinness beer kegs. In more recent times, examples have been repurposed for alternative uses including engineering and weedkilling duties.
For review we received examples of flat wagons 30072/30139 with caged beer kegs (Cat No. IRM1078-D), spoil carriers 30106/30131 (IRM-1073D) and the three-vehicle weedspray train’s 30190/30286/30287 (IRM10180-WS).
Each pack utilises IRM’s 42ft bogie flat wagons as the basis which features a diecast metal deck and underframe together with an impressive profusion of pipe runs, brake and underframe equipment, all of which are equally visible through the deck from above.
