HARRIER DUO
Having already issued naval and trainer versions of the venerable first-generation Hawker-Siddeley Harrier in 1/48 scale, Kinetic has now released the earliest sub-types, with RAF and US boxings of this revolutionary aircraft.
Unsurprisingly, both the GR.1/GR.3 (K48060) and AV-8A (K48072) share many components with previous iterations, but there are three all-new runners providing parts for the fuselage, nosecone, airbrake, ejection seats, vertical stabiliser, canopy and underwing pylons. All items are moulded cleanly, with fine engraved panel lines and rivet detail, and there is a well-appointed cockpit along with accurate undercarriage and airbrake bays.
Kinetic has been generous with its schemes, offering seven GR.1/1A/3 airframes and five US Marine Corps machines, and the Cartograf-printed decals are excellent. Note, some of the weapons provided aren’t applicable to RAF or USMC Harriers – for the latter, just the gun pods and drop tanks are useable – so modellers will need to check references for the correct ordnance.
