KMS Railtech plans 'OO' gauge 73/9

KMS Railtech has unveiled plans to develop an 'OO' gauge Class 73/9 diesel locomotive, working with Accurascale who will produce the model.

Currently in the initial stages of the project, KMS Railtech is inviting expressions of interest via its website. If demand is high enough the project will go ahead with a release date expected 18 months later. Prices are expected to be £179.99 for DCC ready versions and £269.99 for DCC sound.

KMS Railtech are proposing three liveries for the first batch, Caledonian Sleeper, GBRF and Network Rail.

The proposed new models are to feature a heavy die-cast chassis, separately applied etched metal and high fidelity parts including grab handles, aerials, steps, wipers, nameplates and crests. KMS have said the model will include high performance traction with a five-pole motor with twin flywheel and a fully detailed lighting pack.

The ESU LokSound DCC sound version will host duel speaker technology merging a large EM2 bass speaker and smaller 'cube' speaker for the higher frequencies.
