NAVAL DEVELOPMENTS

KENT-BASED S&M Models has released exclusive test-shot images of its upcoming 1/350 and 1/700 Oberon-class submarine, plus CAD drawings of its 1/48 and 1/72 Westland Wasp. The Oberon kits, which will be full-hull offerings, are the first styrene examples of this Cold War type in either scale, and feature engraved surface detail, three-piece hulls and a complete array of mast antennas. Decals are under development, but it is expected both kits will be available intime for the IPMS (UK) Scale ModelWorld in November 2020 (COVID-19 restrictions permitting). The firm’s naval focus will also include new toolings for a 1/72 and 1/48 Westland Wasp helicopter. The latest CAD drawings highlight the high-quality features being incorporated into the rotor hub and undercarriage sub-assemblies, and these are likely to be popular with builders of naval aviation subjects. Three boxings are being planned in each scale and these are also scheduled to be available by November 2020. Further details are at www.sandmmodels.co.uk
