Big sound for a Peco ‘Small England’

How do you fit Digital Command Control, stay-alive and sound into a tiny ‘OO9’ gauge locomotive? JOHN GAY reveals how.

PECO’S RECENTLY released ‘OO9’ gauge Ffestiniog Railway ‘Small England’ 0-4-0TT locomotives Prince and Princess might best be described as small, but mighty. These delightfully diminutive models are a joint venture between Peco and Kato and feature pick-ups to the front locomotive axle and both tender axles, together with a pair of traction tyres fitted to the rear driving axle. This results in a responsive locomotive that also exhibits impressive haulage characteristics for its size. That said, this all-new ‘OO9’ locomotive is supplied without provision for Digital Command Control (DCC).
