Iconic American kit brands owned by US company Round 2 are now available in the UK via Bachmann, as CHRIS CLIFFORD reports.
Bachmann Europe has become an official distributor for Round 2 kit brands in the UK, these being MPC, AMT, Polar Lights and Lindberg. Classic 1/25 American ‘muscle’ cars, dragsters, race cars and trucks form many of the products, but there are also real space and sci-fi items, representing famous spacecraft from Star Trek and Space:1999, such as the USS Enterprise and Eagle Transporter respectively.
Some of the cars are legendary… the 1963 Corvette Stingray, 1966 Ford Thunderbird, 1960 Chevrolet Corvette, a Dodge Charger and even music group vehicle the Monkeemobile. And in the Lindberg stable, there are the fun and decidedly different 1/12 Jolly Roger and Haunted Manor figure/mini-diorama sets.
In the sci-fi realm, different boxings of the Star Trek USS Enterprise and Galileo Shuttle are available, plus a Klingon Battle Cruiser and Area 51 UFO. Many of the car kits were first tooled in the 1960s and ‘70s, and will be a real nostalgia trip… and they can still be built into excellent replicas. Some of the kits have already reached the Bachmann UK headquarters and are available for distribution. All the items from these four brands can be viewed via the Bachmann website.
