Having released various new-tool 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf 109Es since 2020, Special Hobby now turns its attention to the E-7 Trop version.
Special Hobby really raised the bar with its new 1/72 Bf 109E kits. The ‘109 is a small subject in this scale, and many previous kits suffered from limited detail. Those released thus far by Special hobby though offer much, from a complete engine with bearers and separate nose guns, and a well-appointed cockpit, to individual ailerons, slats and flaps.
With its latest iteration (SH 72462, ‘Braving Sand and Snow’) the firm provides a sublime model of the E-7 sub-type, renowned for its employment over North Africa, but also on the Eastern Front. This is reflected by the decal sheet.
However, the liveries are varied, as two examples wear RLM 79 Sand Yellow and RLM 80 Olive Green over RLM 78 Light Blue, another is painted in just RLM 79 over 78, but has a replacement splinter pattern-adorned wing from a European theatre aircraft. The last scheme involves very busy RLM 02 Grey and 71 Dark Green mottle over RLM 65 Light Blue.
