A moulded manufacturer legend on one component of Airfix’s re-released 1/76 PaK 40 Gun and Truck reveals it originated in 1979, hence its inclusion in the Vintage Classics range. Three tan-coloured runners provide parts for both the weapon and an Opel Blitz vehicle, plus a driver and four figures to pose round the 75mm anti-tank gun. Ejection marks and seam lines will need tidying, but otherwise the detail remains credible: tyre treads are convincing, panel lines are subtle and the vehicle’s driveshaft assembly is neatly detailed. The instructions denote several components of the gun are clipped rather than glued together to allow it to be configured for towing/deployment and for the barrel to be moveable vertically.
