THEY SAY VARIETY is the spice of life and Dapol has sought to deliver just that with its ‘N’ gauge Class 142s. Following on from our review of the Regional Railways liveried unit in HM141 we received a sample of 142021 in the bright yellow, white and blue Tyne & Wear Passenger Transport Executive version of Regional Railways.

Not only is the livery different on this model, but so is the body. For starters the doors are modelled in original ‘jack knife’ format while the roof moulding is also entirely different with multiple ribs along the length of each vehicle instead of the later three-rib design of 142081 reviewed in HM141.

Like our first sample, assemblywas excellent on both vehicles while the internal wiring also appeared neater too. Decoration was near faultless with crisp edges between all colours, fine Regional Railways lettering, vehicle numbers, Tyne and Wear logos and No Smoking signs in all the windows.
