U-BOAT HUNTER

INTERMEDIATE BUILD

In his inaugural build for AMW, Kev Baxter adds extra detail to Airfix’s re-worked 1/72 Wellington Mk.VIII

WELLINGTON Mk.VIII

Additional parts for the Mk.VIII variant included new nose glazing (top) and a bombardier’s window (bottom) with cut-out for an ASV Yagi antenna.
Due to a lack of kit decals, Eduard’s pre-painted PE items were used instead, although much of this detail would be hidden once the fuselage halves were mated.

Vickers’ Wellington may be best known as a bomber, but it was also operated with considerable success by RAF Coastal Command in the fight against German U-boats.
