Adhesives, thinners, varnishes and other mediums by Poland’s Vantage Modelling Solutions are now available in the UK via Albion Hobbies.
It’s always good to have alternatives with substances such as glue and varnish, as different modelling situations sometimes demand varied approaches and mediums. A worthy and relatively new range of sundries can now be found at Albion Hobbies, which is now UK distributor for Vantage Modelling Supplies (VMS). The product family is extensive and useful, as it offers specialist cyanoacrylate glues for PE, resin and other mediums. Examples include the firm’s Flexy 5K CA, which is forms a flexible bond, being much less brittle that traditional CA adhesives. An extended drying time also affords more ‘wiggle room’ when attaching PE parts, while different viscosities provide more versatility.
Another exciting item is VMS’s Styrene Cement 2.0 eco, whose ground-breaking formulation shuns strong-smelling acetone – and has a slower evaporation rate. So, no headaches and time to position components such as individual track links, and the like. And if you wish to attach clear parts to your model – canopies, windows etc – the Transpa Fix 6K is ideal, as it does not damage transparent styrene in any way, and has a longer drying time.
Sticky stuff
Also incredibly handy is the firm’s CA Glue Filler. Mix the fine powder with CA glue and the result is an instant gap-filling putty that dies much more quickly than traditional fillers. It can be sanded like most other fillers.

Varnish really divides modellers and many have their favourite brands; VMS has airbrush-ready acrylic varnishes that don’t need diluting and are available in matt, satin and gloss finishes. The company can also help come decal time, as it produces decal setting and softening solutions.
More focused mediums include Hull Tex, which is a two-part adhesive/aggregate product aimed at replicating the non-slip surfaces seen on modern tanks… M1 Abrams, Merkava and others. Diorama modellers will welcome products such as Smart Mud and Sand & Ballast Freeze, which emulate mud and secure scatter materials respectively, and VMS also has a wide range of pigments and binders – also handy for military and diorama builders.
