Dapol reveals third generation Class 66 in 'N'

Dapol has unveiled plans for an all-new ‘N’ gauge Class 66 diesel.

This latest version of the Class 66 Co-Co diesel will be the third iteration of the prototype produced in ‘N’ gauge by the manufacturer. The all-new specification includes Dapol’s new iron core five-pole motor at its heart, together with a redesigned die-cast chassis, all-wheel pick-ups, all-wheel drive, Next18 Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder socket, independent lighting control, self-centring removable couplings with NEM pockets and clip-fit body. Two cab window designs will also be tooled.

Nine all-new ‘N’ gauge models are planned for the first batch of releases including 66001 in DB red (Cat No. 2D-066-001), 66096 in EWS maroon and gold (2D-066-002), 66531 in original Freightliner green and yellow (2D-066-003), 66528 Madge Elliott MBE – Borders Railway Opening 2015 in Freightliner Powerhaul green and yellow (2D-066-004), 66706 Nene Valley in GB Railfreight colours (2D-066-005), 66734 Platinum Jubilee in GB Railfreight Jubilee livery (2D-066-006), 66779 Evening Star in GB Railfreight branded BR lined green (2D-066-007), 66428 Carlisle Eden Mind in DRS plain blue (2D-066-008) and 66846 in Colas Rail Freight livery (2D-066-009).

Currently at the design stage, CAD drawings are in the process of being developed.

Priced at £172.80 DCC ready, £205.30 DCC fitted and £291.60 DCC sound-fitted, release is anticipated during the second quarter of 2024.
