Hornby’s releases Dublo 'A4' 4-6-2 for 'OO' gauge

The Hornby Dublo brand is firmly back with the latest arrival modelling the streamlined Gresley ‘A4’ 4-6-2. MIKE WILD takes a closer look at 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley.

Hornby’s 2022 catalogue announced expansion of the reintroduced Hornby Dublo brand with the addition of the streamlined Gresley ‘A4’ 4-6-2 to join the Stanier ‘Princess Coronation’ (HM160) and Bulleid air-smoothed ‘Merchant Navy’ (HM173).

The first two issues of the Hornby Dublo ‘A4’ model Sir Nigel Gresley’s 1935-introduced streamlined ‘Pacific’ as 4900 Gannet in LNER Garter blue with valances (Cat No. R3972) and the subject of our review sample 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley in BR lined green without valances and a single chimney (R3973).

The Gresley ‘A4’ has been a longstanding part of the Hornby catalogue, but this issue differs in featuring a die-cast body for the locomotive. Each Hornby Dublo locomotive is limited to 500 units.
