One of the greatest joys of building model railways is that it’s your model - a miniature world of escapism from the stresses and worries of everyday life. There are no rules and you can create it however you like.

I love to add small details and cameos which perhaps don’t jump out of a scene at first glance. These can be two neighbours chatting over a garden fence to classic little comedy sketches that bring a smile to your face. I have a huge love of the television series Dad’s Army and I thought it would be great to build a small ‘OO’ gauge diorama that could be easily integrated into a layout. Using a Wills pill box kit and several figures from Hardy’s Hobbies, I set about building this fun scene.
