If you enjoy building kits of the Junkers Ju 88, ICM’s latest 1/48 products are sure to please.
Junkers’ Ju 88 is one of those aircraft that provides many options for modellers, in terms of variants and different scales. Ukrainian firm ICM issued its first new-tool 1/48 Ju 88 in 2015, in A-5 format, and various other bomber-nosed sub-types followed, including the much-used A-4.
Two new boxings in 1/48 scale are now available, however. These are the Ju 88A-4 with German GP and Torpedo Trailers (48229, the ‘GP’ meaning ground personnel) and item 48230, Ju 88A-8 with Paravane. Looking at the first product, this is ICM’s previously released Ju 88A-4, this time representing the A-4 airframes converted to drop torpedoes (the A-17 was a later torp-armed ’88 sub-type). Here you receive all the standard aircraft parts, but also an eight-subject figure set (including a canine mascot), plus an individual torpedo with its own trailer. Both figures and the Torpedo/trailer have been available separately.
