The National Collection in Miniature is expanding with the arrival of one of the most sought-after items in the Railway Museum – Wainwright ‘D’ class 4-4-0 737. MIKE WILD falls for the charms of the latest Locomotion Models ‘OO’ gauge locomotive.
THE ORNATE LIVERY of the South Eastern Chatham Railway (SECR) is hard to resist. The locomotives of the era were just as eye-catching and the SECR helped them stand out even further with its wonderful brass and copper-embellished lined green and maroon colour scheme.
In recent years locomotives of SECR ancestry have become popular choices for ready-to-run models with arrivals including the ‘C’ 0-6-0 from Bachmann, ‘H’ 0-4- 4T from Hornby and ‘P’ 0-6-0T from Hattons – the one we had all hoped for though is the Wainwright ‘D’ 4-4-0. And now it’s here.
