HORNBY HOBBIES and the One:One Collection opened the doors to its former Margate factory on the weekend of August 17/18 for the Hornby Visitor Centre One:One Collection Open Weekend.

The two-day show was hosted by Hornby and offered the first public access to the developing One:One Collection museum which uses part of the Hornby factory complex. In addition Hornby staged a model railway exhibition in the former factory buildings and visitors also had access to the recently refurbished Hornby Visitor Centre.

The One:One Collection was enhanced on the Thursday before the event with the arrival of Class 47/8 47841 Institution of Mechanical Engineers in InterCity livery which joined Gresley ‘A4’ 4-6-2 4464 Bittern, Stanier ‘Black Five’ 4-6-0 45379, a Cowans Sheldon 50ton crane, a GWR ‘Super Saloon’, a North Eastern Railway inspection saloon and Wickham trolley. Also on display were the 4-SUB and Class 503 units from the Coventry Railway Museum which are stored under cover at the site.
