CHRIS CLIFFORD reviews Roden’s recent and impressive 1/35 1947 Silverside Bus.
Due to its polished, fluted aluminium body cladding, the famed Greyhound bus of the 1930s and -40s received the nickname ‘Silverside’. In a decidedly different change of direction from its usual aircraft kits, Ukrainian manufacturer Roden has produced a 1/35 PD-3751 Silverside bus from 1947 (item 816). The real machine was unveiled at the 1939 World’s Fair in New York City. It was, in effect the world’s first modern diesel bus and revolutionised public transport.
