The scenery on Topley Dale’s diversionary route is off the starting blocks as MIKE WILD builds an American outline plastic kit as the basis of a new quarry scene.
Above: The Walthers New River Mining Company plastic building kit provided just the right kind of backdrop that I wanted for the quarry scene. It does need an extension to the conveyer route, but otherwise it is as designed by Walthers and awaiting weathering and detail finishing in this view.
SOMETIMES it takes me a little while to get projects on the move – and the quarry scene is a perfect example of that. I’ve been wanting to get started on the quarry for a long time as it is an important part of the Peak District setting in which Topley Dale is based. Think Great Rocks and Peak Forest and you will get the idea of what I’m working towards with the layout, though my trackplan will feature drastically shorter sidings than any real quarry loading point due to the limitations of the layout.
