Upgraded Farish BR ‘5MT’

Bachmann’s eagerly-awaited upgraded ‘N’ gauge BR Standard ‘5MT’ 4-6-0 is now available. Read our full review and watch our demonstration video to hear how this sound equipped model performs.

BUILT IN the 1950s, 172 of the Riddles-designed locomotives were completed at BR’s Derby and Doncaster Works and they operated across all BR regions. The last was withdrawn in 1968 and five have been preserved.

Bachmann’s highly-regarded BR ‘5MT’ has been in the Graham Farish range since 2011 and this latest version has been the subject of a digital upgrade, primarily to enable the manufacturer to offer factory sound-fitted models and is now offered in Digital Command Control (DCC) ready and DCC sound-fitted forms, with five different identities.
